Funding Body Advisor & Media Liason: Daniel Carter

[Reclaimer]

"She's either very smart or very lucky, as it can't be proven she's done anything legally wrong. I haven't heard from her since my last move, so I figure she's either lost me, or finally cut herself a little too deep."

[Mr. Handy]

"Tell me what experience you've had that you feel makes you suitable for this expedition," says Daniel. "What field work have you done before?"

[Reclaimer]

"I worked twenty hour days for a week during a search for a missing boy, but the majority of that was volunteer. I'd like to think that was a fairly good test of my endurance. I've done storm watches and once covered a hostage stand-off."

[Mr. Handy]

Daniel nods. "Have you ever done any camera work in other countries before?" he asks.

[Reclaimer]

"Nothing except some home movies I made in France."

[Mr. Handy]

"Do you have a current passport?" asks Daniel. "What other languages besides German do you speak?"

[Reclaimer]

"I believe so. I don't, but I could pick up the basics of whatever language you need."

[Mr. Handy]

"Russian is the language that's primarily spoken where we're going," says Daniel. "We've got a tight schedule, so there won't be all that much time to learn a language you have no experience with, but it's not as important that a cameraman know Russian as it would be for other jobs on the expedition. Is there anything else you'd care to add? We have a number of qualified candidates applying for this job. Tell me why we should choose you."

[Reclaimer]

"Qualified," He thinks. He tries to take that blow in stride and says, "I'd just like you to remember that all those guys were in a position similar to mine, and somebody in your position had to take a chance on them."

[Mr. Handy]

"I never meant to imply that you weren't qualified," says Daniel. "I simply meant that the other candidates are just as qualified as you are. I'm asking why I should take the chance on you rather than on the others."

[Reclaimer]

"One thing I've learned from my jobs is I'm very adaptable. I can do just about anything mechanically and electronically as far as cameras and audiovisual stuff is concerned. The station wasn't very well funded most of my career there, so we pretty much held onto any equipment we actually owned for dear life. If anything happens to any of the equipment I could probably fix it up if you aren't taking a repairman of some sort."

[Mr. Handy]

"We'd be very foolish if we didn't bring along any mechanics," says Daniel, "but it always helps to have an extra one. Do you have any questions you'd like to ask me?"

[Reclaimer]

"No questions that wouldn't be more appropriate if I am hired."

[Mr. Handy]

"All right, then," says Daniel. He stands up, walks around the desk, and extends his hand. "Thank you, Herr Hubert. We'll let you know."

[Reclaimer]

He stands up as he shakes Daniel's hand. "Nice to meet you," He says. With that, he turns around and starts to leave.

[Mr. Handy]

"Likewise," says Daniel. After shaking Charles Hubert's hand, he goes back behind his desk and sits down again.

[Laraqua]

Hubert returns to the reception room and to his own thread.

[Mr. Handy]

Once the door is locked again, Daniel gets on the intercom and speaks to personnel. "This is Daniel Carter, Funding Body Advisor and Media Liaison on the 14th floor," he says. "My personal assistant, Ursula Humboldt, had to take some personal leave unexpectedly. Can you please assign a temp to me for at least one day, possibly more?"

[Laraqua]

"Of course, Mr. Carter, we'll have a temp up there right away. If I remember rightly you enjoyed Ms. Chiang's work? She has a few hours to spare before she's rostered on to work with Mr. Horst and that should give us enough time to sort out a more longer lasting arrangement. Would this work for you?" asked the Staffing Assistant, Ms. Walsh.

[Mr. Handy]

"Yes, thank you," says Daniel. "That would work very well."
