She can see the wooden back of the cupboard. It seems solid.

There are bands in place that hook them in using wooden pegs for anchors. It's relatively easy to remove the cups and plates. It looks like they're more secured against the whole cupboard moving rather than to prevent individual removal.

There's a tall cupboard filled with cups and plates in the top part and empty sacks in the bottom part. The cups and plates seem rather secured, in a manner reminiscent of a ship, so that they wouldn't slide about. But why would they slide about?

He opens the door to the Kitchen and gestures for her to enter.

"I don't know the meaning of the white rose, but I think it suits you too just by the looks of it," he said, and helped her select one from every type. "So ... the kitchen then?"

He splits the sandwich in half and passes it to her before absolutely devouring the one he holds. Finally he says, "Should we take one of each? In case this vase situation is as the man suggested?"

They enter the restaurant.

He nods, and a flash of something, fear perhaps?, appears in his eyes. "Maybe I should hold the flashlight?"

He holds out his hand to her.

"I think there are some books upstairs in a little library," said the man, rousing himself from his chair. "The light you have should get us across the platform if we're quick and clever."

Thankfully you can see that strange fellow is still here. He hasn't disappeared anywhere. Instead he sits on one of the bench seats, head in his hands. He looks up as you enter.
