How many characters do you play in Ash?

Yes I was talking about the other game. Just please this time if one of my guys must die......do not kill him like Buddy before I have a chance to react! I mean one turn I am alive and barking the next turn I am dead and Mr. Foo is thinking what a good meal I would make!
