John smiles at Story, giving his most earnest expression.

"Sir, despite the pretense I'll use to get her onto the base, I swear I'll treat your daughter with the utmost civility."

John gives Elizabeth his most charming smile.

"There's not that many one-legged Jimmy's around, Miss, I think I know where to start looking."

He grins as he adds in a whisper.

"Sure you don't want to come along? I'm sure I could get you into the base."

"Now, if you'll excuse me, my boy, dancing isn't all that with a cane and a limp. I think I'll get myself a refreshment."
