Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
I'd be like a caveman/shaman, cool. So I would have like, stone age level tools then? And I assume no righteousness points or factions then? You'll still create factions as per usual, as you never know you may encounter some other survivors etc. No, it won't be Stone Age tools...not exactly, more a...

Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
In that case I would just say that I'm a sorcerer who was empowered by a demon and refers to himself as a warlock. Alright, so do I get a bonus to skill points for being a really old warlock? Like do I get to pick the seasoned or veteran template for character creation? And again are we playing in ...

Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
So would a witches spells be stronger, or just have more variety? I figure there would have to be some advantage if I have to mess around with ingredients and such. Also you never answered my question about having an ingredient pouch. Would gathering ingredients be something I have to worry about? ...

Re: The Shadow Over Dunwich - Doctor Who meets Call of Cthul
I don't remember Flint, but any characters that aren't exactly human would have to have the same vulnerabilities. An "immortal" character would still be able to be killed normally and suffer from reduced attributes due to aging, and would still suffer Sanity loss normally. I'd have to com...

Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
Would ingredient gathering be part of the role play or would we just say that I have a spell pouch that contains whatever I need? I'd split magic into three, Alchemy, Witchcraft and Mage (Sorcerer or whatever you want to call it). The latter would require no ingredients and could just cast spells n...

Re: The Shadow Over Dunwich - Doctor Who meets Call of Cthul
I'm sorry, but the game is currently full. I just had a new player join and pick up the last abanadoned character, and at this stage it would be difficult to introduce a new character. There will probably come a point where I can bring in a new character, and you'd be welcome to join then, but it w...

Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
Spells are pretty easy, say you have an Int = 15, then you get 15 spells of whichever magnitude you want.Garrett wrote:Spells look pretty complicated, I think I'll just play the half fiend. I'll check with you when I have a rough idea on what powers I'm hoping you'll allow me.

Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
So if I decide to play a warlock could I just give myself normal stats and say I have a spell for just about everything? Well...no. You could use the Renaissance RPG book from drivethrurpg - it is completely free: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/97426/Renaissance---D100-black-powder-SRD I wou...

Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
So a plain warlock would be pretty under powered right? Not at all, human magic-users are listed in Cthulhu Britannica, and can be anything you want them to be. I personally view them to be equal to any of the other templates. Now they won't be as strong as an angel, or a titan - but they will have...

Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
I'm not totally familiar with all the options you just listed off, I only have the base rule book(and it's an old edition). Would it be possible to play a half fiend? You know the child of a demon and a human, and if so what powers would that entail? If I can't do that I'm going to play as a very o...

Are you using an EU Who stuff? If so, can we play humanoids affiliated to UNIT in some way?

Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
If demonic pacts aren't an option what's the differentiation between a warlock and a standard wizard? Also would you allow a demonic pact if no other players chose demons, or if one of them agreed to be the one I made a deal with? What I was thinking was that my character was picked up by a demon w...

Re: Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
Pacts with a demon wouldn't work as they can be player characters too....but you could just have some version of an immortality spell. Now i want the players to be able to fight back but I don't want to have to reel out an Old One every five minutes to beat you down, that needs to be an end of serie...

Call of Cthulhu: Take Back the Earth
This is an idea of mine. Basically the premise is that the mythologies of old prepared an Alpha Strike against the interlopers and were mercilessly crushed leaving survivors scattered around the globe that band together, not because they want to, but because they need to in order to survive, those t...

I'd love to play in one, or even run one if players were interested?
