Will there be another fiction contest this year?

If so, when, what rules, will the copyright issue be worked out, etc., etc. 'Reason I ask this early is because I will be enrolling in an university later this year, and have 2 novels and another writing prohect to work on till then, so I'd like to know if I even have to take the possibillity of ano...

Re: We have a winner!

Right. Although I am uncertain if Cthulhu Mythos stories are Fan Fiction, per se. If Stephen King's Pet Cemetary is seen as Fan Fiction, then sure, I guess you can call them that. It's somewhat hard to distinguish the two though, but I realize that's just my own quibble/opinion on that subject. Cthu...

Re: We have a winner!

@Sara (and others, since I give my thoughts about the copyright thing) Well, first off, I agree with your assessment of the Woodland, so thank you for the kind words/time to express your thoughts on it (I am the author of the story). My main gripe with the story was also that I basically tried to fi...

Re: We have a winner!

No problem, Mr. Handy. I agree with the linearity problems as opposed to cohesive tension in multi-branching stories that you mention. As for Fallout 3, from what my friends have mentioned about it, it does seem to be pretty fun in the way the stories and side-quests have been constructed, and I hav...

Re: We have a winner!

Also congratulations from me Sara, your victory is well deserved. To answer a question that carnage_lee posted at the end of the voting thread, I would enjoy seeing this run again - the more contests I can write for, the more I will be animated to write. However, to reiterate my criticism from the p...

Re: Arkham Horror board game pbp

No problem. I'm fairly experienced with Arkham Horror and knowledgable in a few of the statistics that have been done with the game; four investigators is the ideal amount for getting an investigator victory (2, as well as 7-8 Investigators can get very difficult) - it is especially easy to accompli...

Re: Arkham Horror board game pbp

Just as a small remark, a little while ago there were people over at the official Arkham Horror boards which were trying to get the same thing going after their old game was deleted with the old arkham horror boards. So you could probably easily get 2-4 players from over there if you needed players....

Re: Cthulhu Mythos Fiction Contest: Vote for your favourite

Well thanks, but to be fair I probably just wrote that much since I was one of the participants (not one that got into the top five though :P ). I also admit that "Names" gave off a distinctive John Constantine/Trenchcoat Brigade vibe. Oddly enough, I like all of those characters (despite ...

Re: Cthulhu Mythos Fiction Contest: Vote for your favourite

I'm going to go ahead and explain my choices in voting here as well (under cover of a spoilers-thingie), as wella s some other related criticism: (The reason I'm doing it with spoiler tags is that I don't want to...well, spoil the enjoyment of any of these tales) (warning, somewhat lengthy) Personal...
